The Center for Private Business provides monthly programming to help our Members build a rock-solid foundation for their company.

The health of a company depends on the strength of their leaders, the happiness of their employees and their plans for the future.

We Focus Our Programming Around These 6 Areas

Succession Planning

It’s never too early to plan. Our members want to ensure their companies are being smart about their 10, 15-year plans as well as adequately investing in their next generation of leaders.

Governance

Sophisticated companies have layers of leadership. Correctly utilizing an advisory board, executive committee or outside audit is paramount for effective and strategic governance.

Company Culture

Our members care about their employees’ experience. Pay equity, diversity, the blending of generational perspectives and work-life balance are valued in today’s business world.

Strategic Planning

Intentions matter. The Center brings in financing experts, HR professionals, leadership coaches and more to help our members think through their growth strategies and company goals.

Family Harmony

Finding success at the expense of relationships is not the goal. Keeping family ties strong in the face of stressful work requires commitment and coaching — especially for privately-owned family companies.

Leadership Development

All leaders have strengths. All leaders have shortcomings. Our members are eager to learn how to be more effective, self-aware, and confident leaders to further grow in their roles.

Business Leader Forum Groups

Forum takes the loneliness out of leadership. The Center for Private Businesses hosts 24 Forum groups across North Carolina. These groups of 8-10 business leaders meet monthly to debrief and talk-through recent issues, challenges or joys with running a business.

Forum requires a one-time $1,500 initiation fee outside of Membership Dues. But that investment goes straight towards your efforts and growth as a leader. Monthly meetings are a safe-space to talk through confidential and difficult challenges you may be facing within your company, or within your personal-life as it relates to being an owner.

Time spent in Forum meetings is spent addressing these core areas:

  • Business
  • Family and Friends
  • Personal Health
  • Pressing Matters
“

Joining a Forum group is like having a personal Board of Directors for your life, your company and your team.
