Expanding Access for

Business Owners Across North Carolina

At the Center for Private Business, we are committed to helping a wide range of business owners grow and succeed. We believe that when more people have access to tools, knowledge, and connections, the result is stronger businesses and more resilient communities.

Why the Center for Private Business Created the Opportunity Fund

Many entrepreneurs face real challenges – such as limited funding, few business connections, or lack of access to training and mentorship. These hurdles can prevent promising businesses from reaching their potential.

The Opportunity Fund was created to reduce those barriers. It is open to any business owner who demonstrates financial need or limited access to resources – regardless of their background. Our focus is on supporting those who are working hard to grow but may not yet have the same opportunities or support networks as others.

Who the Fund Helps

The Opportunity Fund supports business owners who are underfunded, under-resourced, or operating in underserved areas.

Eligibility is based on need and a desire to grow your business with the support of the Center’s resources. The program is designed to ensure fair access for all applicants.

How We Support Business Growth

Access to Resources: Members gain tools, mentorship, and connections that help them build stronger businesses and make informed decisions.

Peer Learning: Our forums and events provide a space to learn from other business owners, share ideas, and grow together.

What the Fund Offers

$1,000 Toward First-Year Membership

Business owners accepted into the program receive a $1,000 discount on their first year of membership at the Center. This reduces the cost to $500 for the first year. In the second year, your full dues ($1,500) help support another business owner – continuing the cycle of support.

The Center for Private Business has been a game-changer for me. Not only has the Center offered informative and timely workshops, but it has provided access to invaluable professional resources that have broadened my perspective on how to run my business. When I moved back to Charlotte four years ago to help lead my family’s business, I struggled to find a neutral sounding board. Forum not only filled that gap but also helped me forge what I hope will be lifelong friendships.
