Kate Reece (’07, MBA ’15)
Director of the Center for Private Business
Kate Reece joined as the Director of the Center for Private Business in August of 2015. Kate began a career in non-profits in Wake Forest University Advancement, and then served as the Director of Major Gifts at The Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County. Kate later served as a Major Gifts Officer at Hospice and Palliative CareCenter where she helped to implement a sustainable planned giving initiative. Kate also works in her own family business, a fundraising consulting firm based out of Raleigh, NC, Gamble Squared.
As an active member in her local community, Kate currently sits on the Young Alumnae Board of Saint Mary’s School in Raleigh, NC as well as on the boards of Downtown Winston-Salem Community Cinema, Friends of Brenner Children’s Hospital, and Saint Paul’s Preschool. She is also a committee member of the Winterlark Gala for The Comprehensive Cancer Center at WFU Baptist Health.
Kate is proud to be a “Double Deacon” and she and her husband, Mark Reece III, have three daughters and two beagles.
Stan Kelly (P ’09)
Chairman of the Advisory Board
Stan recently retired after serving Wachovia/Wells Fargo Corporation for 34 years in various management, senior leader and executive leadership roles.
His responsibilities covered multiple business units, including retail banking, commercial banking and wealth management, and were local, regional and national in scope.
Most recently Stan led an organization of 5,000 employees across the Carolinas generating revenues in excess of $2 billion. He also served in a variety of leadership roles at the corporate level to include Corporate Diversity Council, Risk Management, Customer Experience Council, Employee Benefits and Resource Committee, and the Sales Performance Steering Committee.
Todd Johnson (MBA ’82, P’ 08)
Vice President, Wake Forest University
Todd is the co-founder and serves on the Board of Directors of KeraNetics, LLC, an early stage life sciences company. He serves as Vice President of Wake Forest University and is President of the Wake Forest Charlotte Executive Board. He has over 25 years of experience and involvement with early stage healthcare companies.
He previously founded and served as CEO of HealthTech Corp. until it was acquired by MedCath, Inc., where he then served as one of the company’s senior officers until its acquisition by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.
Todd currently serves on the Board of Directors of EVA Corp., Applied Catheter Technologies, Inc., Keratin Cosmetics Sciences, LLC, N2 Medical Solutions, LLC, KeraNetics, LLC, and JC Steele and Sons, Inc. He also serves on the Wake Forest School of Business Board of Visitors and the Charlotte US Army Advisory Board. Mr. Johnson received a BS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA from Wake Forest University.
Drew Hancock is a forty-plus year veteran of the construction industry, with more than thirty years of that leading Frank L. Blum Construction Company.
Drew is part of the third generation of leadership and ownership of Blum Construction. He has also been a part of crafting and implementing an ownership transition and management succession plan to set Blum up for success with its fourth generation of leadership and ownership.
His current responsibilities as CEO of Blum include strategic direction, talent development and market presence.
Drew currently serves the community through board memberships with Wake Forest University Health Sciences, Winston-Salem Alliance, Leadership Winston-Salem, Piedmont Triad Airport Authority, Triad Stage and the BB&T Local Advisory Board.
Drew holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from The Georgia Institute of Technology. He and his wife Kelley live in Winston-Salem and have three grown children, Jonathan, Tess and Emma.
